About the Project

In 2022, INQUEST embarked on its first National Lottery Heritage Fund Project, Unlocking the Truth for 40 Years.

The creation of the INQUEST archive was at the core of this project. Hundreds of organisational folders were deposited at the Bishopsgate Institute in London, alongside donations from founding members and bereaved family campaigners.

The archival documents available on this website represent a small part of this collection. If you would like to explore further then you can visit the physical archive at Bishopsgate Institute which contains:

  • Administrative documents
  • Oral history recordings and transcripts
  • Campaign flyers and posters
  • Press clippings
  • Case documents
  • Reports and publications
  • Related publications

The heritage project also included the SoulsINQUEST photography exhibition, the Unlawful Killing podcast, a collective memorial banner, public events, collaborations with University of Westminster students, and INQUEST's first film - The UK is Not Innocent: The Story of INQUEST. All of these outputs make use of the INQUEST archive and we hope this digital archive will inspire further research, campaigning and creativity.
