Charity appeal on BBC Radio 4 with Linton Kwesi Johnson
Sadly, we no longer have the recording of Linton Kwesi Johnson's BBC Radio 4 appeal.
The dub poet and activist has been a dedicated patron for decades. Linton became involved in INQUEST when Roger Sylvester died during contact with police in Tottenham in 1999.
Here are some excerpts from his appeal:
[I am] a long-time supporter of the crucial work that INQUEST does. It is my way of making a small contribution to an important charity. I was involved in the Roger Sylvester Justice Campaign and witnessed close up the level of support given to the family of someone who had died in custody ... Until there is legislation to change the way inquests are conducted and the provision of legal and psychological support to the bereaved of those who died in custody, INQUEST will continue to be a vital source of support for families.
